NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Auburn women's tennis team was in action today in day number two of the SEC Fall Classic. In the event hosted by Vanderbilt University, the Tigers came home with two team victories, with one on the singles side and one on the doubles side.
Senior Heather Bybee continued her stellar play on the young season, picking up another victory on day two of the tournament. Bybee defeated Rita Maisak of South Carolina 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets. In doubles action, Daneila Vukadinovic and Taylor Schriemann downed Carolina Hitimani and Brittany Borsanyi 8-5.
"We picked up some solid wins today against Florida and South Carolina," said head coach Tim Gray. "It is always nice to get some wins to build on. We are very young, but very hungry and coachable. I'm really excited about our group of kids."
Tomorrow's action begins with singles play at 9 a.m. in day three of competition. A quartet of Tigers will play on the day in singles matches. Vukadinovic will begin the day for Auburn as she takes on Alabama's Anna Morgina. Bybee will follow by going up against Valentina Starkova of Arkansas.
A pair of Tigers will take on eachother in the teams third match, as freshman Paulina Schippers plays teammate senior Jil Hastenrath. Plamena Kurteva will close out play for Auburn as she takes on Carolina Lilley of Kentucky in Auburn's final match of the day.
