ATHENS, Ga. -

Redshirt freshman Fani Chifchieva and the doubles team of sophomore Alex Haney and Melissa Koning fell in their respective matches at the NCAA Individual Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens on Thursday.

After breezing past No. 58 Csilla Borsanyi of Florida in the first set 6-2, the 16th ranked Chifchieva dropped the second set, 7-5.  Chifchieva was unable to get the momentum back on her side, losing the third set, 6-3.  Her second round defeat ends her season with a stellar record of 18-8 overall.

Haney and Koning faced off against the second ranked doubles team of Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long of North Carolina in the opening round of the doubles tournament.  After dropping the first set 6-4, the Tiger duo was unable to force a third set, falling 6-3 in the second.  Haney and Koning finished the season ranked 13th in the country with a record of 14-8.
