No. 49 Women's Tennis Concludes Action on Spring Break Trip

AUBURN- The No. 49 Auburn women's tennis team wrapped up action at the SEC/Big Ten/Big 12 Fling in Orlando, Fla. Thursday against No. 56 Oklahoma State and No. 30 Indiana after playing multiple singles and doubles matches over three days of action.

After play was complete, each team had one winner based on a unique scoring system devised by the three coaches. Fani Chifchieva, ranked No. 46 in the latest ITA singles poll, won for the Tigers, while Sahsa Belova won for Oklahoma State and Myriam Sopel won for Indiana.

Chifchieva, along with fellow seniors Jil Hastenrath and Myrthe Molenveld went undefeated in their matches, along with Hastenrath and Chifchieva taking home a perfect record in doubles play.

"This was an excellent event and a great opportunity for some really good competition. "This gave us a chance to continue to work on things and improve in several areas," said head coach Tim Gray. "It was an superb learning experience for all of our players."

Auburn returns to action on Fri., March 26 against Kentucky as City of Auburn/Yarbrough Tennis Center. The match is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
