AUBURN, Ala. - The 63rd-ranked Auburn women's tennis team hosted its first home meet Saturday against the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M in the first match of a double header and came away with a 7-0 win. "Our schedule up to this point has been pretty ambitious and we showed some promise so it was nice to get a bit of a breather," head coach Tim Gray said. "We wanted the team to stay focused and work on the things we have been working on. They did a good job and we will need to keep the momentum going in to the afternoon match." The Tigers came out strong and won the doubles point with ease. On court two, Plamena Kurteva and Paulina Schippers beat Alabama A&M's Jasmine Cherry and Kara Kennemore, 8-0. The freshman duo of Olivia Bennett and Jacqueline Kasler continued Auburn's winning ways as they earned an 8-1 over Alabama A&M's Denise Cherry and Shannon Warner at No. 1 doubles. Alabama A&M did not field a third doubles team, therefore forfeiting the final doubles match. Auburn continued its dominant performance in singles play. Kurteva, Taylor Cotten, Kasler and Bennett all earned 6-0, 6-0 victories for the Tigers. Caroline Thornton finished her match on court two with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Finishing singles play was Schippers, who defeated A&M's Denise Cherry 6-1,6-1.
