"So far I have been very pleased with the play of our freshmen," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "We have a lot of new faces and these games have really helped them. Overall, these games have been good in helping us build some cohesiveness as a team and working on getting a better feel for each other in game situations."

Auburn began the fall season with a pair of wins last Thursday, defeating Pensacola Junior College and Georgia Perimeter Junior College.
The Tigers feature seven newcomers to the team, including infielder Kelsey Cartwright who earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Tennessee at Goodpasture High School. Cartwright was also selected to the EA Sports All-American First Team after striking out just three times in 123 at-bats her senior season.
In addition to the newcomers, Auburn has 12 letterwinners from last season returning including senior pitcher Anna Thompson. A Huntsville, Ala., native, Thompson holds the Auburn record and is 10th in Southeastern Conference history with 796 strikeouts.
