Head Coach Tim Walton
On the win...
"That first win is the most important. If you lose, you go home.
Mississippi State is a great team and we knew that. Our season series
was just what you saw today, a hard fought game. We haven't gotten a
win in the SEC Tournament in a long time, so it was good to get one."
On tomorrow's game against an unknown opponent...
"It doesn't matter who you are playing, you have to pitch well to win a
championship. Stacey Nelson has done a great job for us all year long;
both of our pitchers have. We are going to go back to the hotel and
eat. The way we have approached the whole season is taking care about
the name across our chest. It doesn't matter who we are playing, we
have to do what we do."
SS Lauren Roussell
On the win...
"For our seniors, it was a big deal. It was the first win in the SEC
Tournament for us, so it was huge. We have struggled with Mississippi
State's pitching this season. They are a great team, but our pitching
was amazing. We came out swinging the bats and were able to get ahead."
Mississippi State Quotes
Head Coach Jay Miller
On Florida's Stacey Nelson...
"I thought she threw a really good ballgame. Obviously, you have to get
more than one hit and no runs to win a ballgame. It was one of those
things where she threw a very good game and we didn't do the job that we
needed to do. We didn't give our pitcher much support."
On MSU's offensive approach...
"I thought we were a little anxious at the plate. We weren't patient,
and we needed to make her throw a little bit. We weren't able to do
that, and you have to give credit to the way she came after us. We had
some opportunities, but you have to take advantage of them when you do."
C/IF Chelsea Bramlett
On the game...
"We've had our ups and downs. We've had a good year, it's just a matter
of us getting it all together. Overall, we're a better team than what we
showed today. Our defense was great. We just need to do a little better
on offense and on coming through in clutch times."
