Auburn sophomore Ashley Arcuri and freshman Anna Thompson have been recognized by the Southeastern Conference in its annual postseason awards on Wednesday. Arcuri was named to the All-SEC Second Team while Thompson was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Only statistics accrued during conference play counted toward voting for the All-SEC First and Second Teams as well as the All-Freshman team. The conference's 11 coaches voted on the awards.
Arcuri, who played all 28 games at second base during conference play, led the team with a .375 batting average, 30 hits, eight doubles and a .440 on-base percentage. Her .513 slugging percentage was tied for second on the team.
Overall, the Tampa, Fla., native played in all 56 games, placing second on the team with a .299 average. She finished the season with a team-leading 11 doubles and had one home run and 12 RBI. She walked 13 times and her 15 strikeouts were the least among the team's starters.
Thompson, meanwhile, earned her first SEC postseason honor after going 7-9 with a 1.89 earned run average in 92 2/3 innings during conference play. She pitched in 19 games, starting 13, and placed second in the SEC with 136 strikeouts.
The Huntsville, Ala., native finished the season with 15-15 overall record, posting a freshman single-season record with 291 strikeouts. She led the Tigers with 187 innings pitched and was named SEC Freshman of the Week twice - Feb. 19 and April 30.
