Auburn, Ala. - The No. 23 Auburn softball team hits the road for the final weekend of the 2011 regular season and will take on No. 18 Kentucky beginning Friday at 6 p.m. CT in Lexington.

"Kentucky has good pitching, they have a power-pitcher with Chanda Bell," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "She is having a very good year for them. Kentucky has hit 60 home runs this season and has only lost one game at home, so it's going to be a challenge for our team."

Auburn owns a 26-13 all-time record against Kentucky. The Wildcats hold a 10-9 record over the Tigers in games played in Lexington and have won four straight at home in the series. The teams have split the last 10 meetings with five of those games decided by one run. Auburn is 3-2 in those one-run games.

At 36-15 overall and 13-12 in the Southeastern Conference, the Tigers have clinched a berth in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. Auburn will make its fourth consecutive trip to the tournament and its 11th in the last 12 years.

Depending on the series outcome against Kentucky and other league series this weekend, Auburn can finish as high as fifth in the league and no lower than seventh, the Tigers' current spot in the conference.

Kentucky goes into the weekend at 35-11 overall record and a 13-7 mark in SEC play. The Wildcats have also secured a spot in the SEC Tournament and can finish as high as second in the league and no lower than seventh.

Game two of the Auburn vs. Kentucky series is slated for a noon CT start time on Saturday, with Sunday's series final also scheduled to begin at noon CT.

The 2011 SEC Softball Tournament will be hosted by the University of Mississippi in Oxford, May 12-14. For more information on the SEC Tournament, including ticket purchases, go to, http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/default.aspx?TabId=721.
