Auburn Softball Player Anna Thompson Named To SEC Community Service Team

Auburn, Ala. - Auburn softball player Anna Thompson was named to the Southeastern Eastern Conference Community Service Team for her work with local charities and organizations, the league office announced today. "We are all very proud of Anna's commitment to giving back to the community," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "Anna is an exceptional student, a tremendous softball player and someone who believes in helping others and her charitable work certainly proves that." Thompson, a native of Huntsville, Ala., who graduated from Grissom High School, volunteered her time with Toys for Tots, reading to Auburn elementary school children and serving as a Camp ASCCA sports camp volunteer. Additionally, Thompson volunteered for the SEC We CAN Food Drive and for the Alpha Chi Omega Dodgeball Tournament, a philanthropic event to raise money for domestic violence awareness. In her junior season, Thompson is working to towards a double major in finance and accounting and carries a 3.47 GPA. Thompson and the Auburn softball team will take on No. 1 Florida in the first round of the SEC Tournament Thursday, at 4 p.m. CT. The SEC Softball Tournament is hosted by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
