Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn softball team hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the final regular season series of the year this weekend at Jane B. Moore Field.

Game one of the series is set for a 6 p.m. CT start on Friday. Saturday's game begins at 1 p.m. and is Senior Day. Seven Auburn seniors, Angel Bunner, Lauren Guzman, Elizabeth Eisterhold, Jenee Loree, Lauren Schmalz, Morgan Murphy and Amber Harrison will each be honored on the field prior to first pitch. Sunday's series finale is also set for a 1 p.m. CT start.

Auburn goes into the series with a 31-19 overall record and a 10-15 record in the Southeastern Conference. Mississippi State is 32-19 overall and 11-14 in the SEC. The Tigers and Bulldogs have each clinched a spot in the SEC Tournament, with this weekend's series determining seeding for the tournament.

"Our seniors have been committed to getting into the SEC Tournament and it's great to see their hard work pay off," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "Hopefully having that weight off them, knowing that we're in, will free them up to play with less pressure."

The Tigers can finish as high as the sixth seed in the tournament. Auburn trails seventh-place Mississippi State by one game and sixth place Kentucky by two games. The Wildcats host LSU this weekend.

The Bulldogs comes into the series having won 11 consecutive games. Mississippi State's last loss was a 13-2 defeat at Arkansas on April 7. The Bulldogs have been led offensively by Jessica Cooley who has 15 home runs and 40 RBI.

"They play with a lot of energy," Deese said. "It should be a great matchup this weekend because both teams are comparable statistically, we both have similar numbers. We will get a lot of different looks from their pitchers. We want to finish strong going into the tournament, as I'm sure they do, so this should be an exciting series this weekend."
