The Auburn softball team welcomes the 20th ranked LSU Tigers to Jane B. Moore Field for a three-game series beginning with a double-header Saturday at 1 p.m.
Auburn enters the series at 28-24 overall and 8-17 in the Southeastern Conference. LSU is 30-14-1 overall and 13-9-1 in the SEC. Auburn currently holds the eighth spot for the SEC Tournament. Auburn has a one game lead over Ole Miss and a two game lead over Mississippi State entering the final three games of the regular season. Ole Miss plays Mississippi State in Starkville this weekend.
"This is a big weekend, especially with a good LSU team coming in," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "They are playing very well. It's good we are playing in front of our home fans. That always makes a difference."
Prior to Saturday's double-header Auburn will recognize its senior class of Tatiana Fernandez, Myesha Finney and Taryn Gray. Fernandez has had the hot bat of late for the Tigers, hitting .320 in the last 10 games. Additionally, Fernandez has been successful against LSU with a .321 career average.
LSU has been led by Kirsten Shortridge this season. Shortridge is hitting .414 with 23 RBI, three home runs and 22 stolen bases. Brittany Mack leads the LSU pitching staff with an 11-3 record, with Cody Trahan just behind at 9-5.
