The No. 25 Auburn softball team hosts No. 4 Georgia in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. CT at Jane B. Moore Field.
"Georgia has a lot of good, solid hitters," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "It's a tough lineup to pitch to because they have some big hitters who drive the ball. They have a lot of different looks from their pitchers too. They all do a great job keeping hitters off balance and attacking the strike zone."
Auburn is 34-14 overall and 11-11 in the Southeastern Conference. Auburn is third in the SEC Western Division and seventh overall in the league.
For the Tigers, freshman Morgan Estell has a team-high .468 batting average and seven doubles in the month of April. Against top 25 teams this season Estell leads Auburn in hitting with a .436 average, in doubles with five and in home runs with three.
Additionally, sophomore Kelsey Cartwright is hitting .395 with eight RBI and four doubles, while junior Lauren Guzman is tied for the team high with nine RBI in April.
Georgia comes into the weekend series with a 41-7 overall record and a 14-6 conference record. The Bulldogs are second in the SEC Eastern Division and third overall in the league.
The Bulldogs are third in the SEC with a .327 batting average and third with 69 home runs this season. Alisa Goler leads Georgia and is tied for third in the conference with 15 home runs, while Brianna Hesson is tied for eighth with 12 and Taylor Schlopy tied for 11th with 11 homers. Goler also leads the SEC with a .558 on-base percentage.
Georgia pitching is fourth in the league with a 2.07 ERA and is third with a .201 batting average against. Georgia's Alison Owens is sixth in the SEC with a 1.73 ERA and fifth with a .188 batting average against.
Following Friday night's series opener, the Tigers and Bulldogs will play Saturday and Sunday with both games slated for 1 p.m. CT first pitches.
