Auburn, Ala. -
The 25th-ranked Auburn softball team will host 23rd-ranked LSU in a doubleheader Wednesday at Jane B. Moore Field. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. CT.
Auburn enters the midweek Southeastern Conference series with a 32-11 overall record and an 11-9 conference record. The Tigers have lost three straight after being swept at home by No. 10 Florida over the weekend. Auburn holds a one and one-half game lead over LSU for second place in the SEC West.
LSU is 26-15 overall and 8-9 in the SEC. LSU has also lost three straight after being swept by No. 6 Tennessee last weekend in Baton Rouge.
"LSU has very good pitching," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "They swept Alabama and really shutdown their offense. We're going to have to manufacture runs against their pitchers. We will go after them with everything we've got."
Auburn freshman Morgan Estell goes into the LSU series having reached base safely in a season-high 12 consecutive games. Estell led Auburn with a .667 batting average and a 1.222 slugging percentage in three games against Florida.
Estell is fifth in the SEC with a .418 batting average this season and 11th with a .500 on-base percentage.
Despite taking the loss in game two vs. No. 10 Florida over the weekend, junior pitcher Angel Bunner is fifth in the league with a 1.71 ERA and 10th with a .209 batting average against.
