Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn softball team has signed junior college All-American Caitlin Stangl for the 2010 season, Auburn head coach Tina Deese announced Tuesday.

"Caitlin has been an exciting athlete to track throughout her junior college career," Deese said. "She will bring a valuable short game to our offense as well as additional speed in out outfield."

As a freshman outfielder at Yavapai College in Prescott, Ariz., Stangl led the Roughriders with a .483 batting average in 2008. Stangl also scored a team-high 83 runs and stole 71 bases. Stangl earned First Team NFCA All-America and Second Team NJCAA All-America honors for her effort.

A native of Tuscon, Ariz., Stangl is hitting .517 (89-for-172) this season with 11 doubles, one triple, 34 RBI and is 49-of-49 in stolen base attempts. Stangl has a .545 on-base percentage and has scored 59 runs.

Stangl attended Salpointe Catholic High School in Tuscon.
