Auburn, Ala. -
The Auburn softball team will take a break from conference play when it hosts the South Alabama Jaguars Tuesday at Jane B. Moore Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT.
Auburn enters the game with a 27-16 overall record, while South Alabama is 21-20-1 on the season. The Tigers and Jaguars will play one game Tuesday. That game will be carried locally in Auburn on WZMG AM 910 and over the internet at www.auburntigers.com.
""South Alabama is going to come in here ready to play and we are going to have to be ready for that challenge," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "We are coming off a couple of really tough games against Tennessee, and we need our team to come together and respond like I know we can."
The Tigers are coming off a series sweep at the hands of No. 12 Tennessee last weekend in Knoxville. Both games in Saturday's double-header against the Lady Vols went down to the wire. Tennessee won the first game 2-1 in the bottom of the 11th inning after a strong performance from Auburn pitcher Anna Thompson who set a personal best by throwing all 10.1 innings.
The Lady Vols won the second game of the double-header 3-2 after rallying from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh. Auburn sophomore Kyndall White delivered an RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh to score the go-ahead run for Auburn.
South Alabama enters the game having won five of their last eight games. The Jaguars are led by Tara Donaldson who is hitting .381 (45-for-118) with nine doubles, four home runs and 33 RBI.
