Auburn, Ala. -
The No. 22 Auburn softball team will host a midweek doubleheader against Mercer on Wednesday, April 6, beginning at 5 p.m. CT at Jane B. Moore Field.
Auburn is 29-7 overall and 9-5 in the Southeastern Conference after dropping two of three against No. 11 Tennessee last weekend in Knoxville. The Tigers held their No. 22 ranking in this week's NFCA top 25, but moved back one spot to No. 22 in the ESPN/USA Softball top 25.
Mercer enters the two-game series with a 20-14 overall record and is coming off of a series sweep of Stetson.
"We've got a challenge coming in with Mercer," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "The last time they came to Jane B. they took us for two games. These are big games and they are going to get after us."
The Tigers are 12-3 all-time against the Bears, including a 9-2 record at Jane B. Moore Field. Mercer swept Auburn in the 2009 meeting at Jane B. Moore Field, winning game one 1-0 and game two 7-6 in nine innings.
This season, Auburn is 18-1 at home and has out-scored opponents 122-29 in those 19 games. The Tigers had a program-record 21 game winning streak snapped in 2-1 loss to Ole Miss on March 26. Auburn has won 24 consecutive games at home against non-conference opponents with the last loss coming on April 14, 2009, in a 3-1 defeat to South Alabama in 10 innings.
