AUBURN, Ala. -
The 17th-ranked Auburn softball team travels to Huntsville, Ala., for its fifth straight road game Tuesday against the Ohio Valley Conference's Tennessee Tech.
The Tigers and Golden Eagles will square off at a 6 p.m. CT., at the Metro Kiwanis Sportsplex. The teams have never met.
The game will mark a homecoming of sorts for Auburn junior Holly Currie. The pitcher is from Pisgah, Ala., which sits less than an hour away from Huntsville.
Auburn is 24-10 this season, coming off a 7-2 victory over Florida State in Tallahassee on Thursday. The club had its Southeastern Conference bye over the weekend as the game against Tennessee Tech will be its first in five days.
Auburn is in the midst of a season-long eight-game road trip. It began with a trip to Florida on March 28-29, and will end in Baton Rouge, La., as the Tigers travel to play LSU April, 8-9.
Junior Kristina McCain paces the Tigers offensively, batting .396 with five home runs and 18 runs batted in. The Mount Olive, Ala., native was 6-of-13 in four games last week. She walked four times, had two doubles and collected two RBI as Auburn went 2-2 against Florida and Florida State.
Tennessee Tech (30-8) has won its last seven straight, including a sweep of Samford in Birmingham the past weekend. Krystina Dobbs leads the Golden Eagles' offense, batting .351 with four home runs and 20 RBI.
