The Auburn softball team will play the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Jane B. Moore Field.
The Tigers and Gamecocks will play only one game. Radio coverage can be heard in Auburn on WZMG 910 AM and on the internet, along with live stats, at www.auburntigers.com.
"Jacksonville State is playing well, they have won 20 games and are coming in here on a roll," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "They hit the ball extremely well. They are hitting just above .300 as a team and they are going to present a big challenge for us."
Auburn is 30-9 overall this season and has a 21-4 record against non-conference opponents. Jacksonville State is 20-8 on the year and has won eight straight entering Wednesday's game.
The Tigers are coming off a series win against then ninth-ranked Tennessee this past weekend. Auburn lost the first game of the series before rallying to win the final two.
Auburn is 29th nationally in team ERA with a 1.65 mark. Sophomore Anna Thompson is 11th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (10.7 per), while senior Brittany Day is 33rd in the country (8.9). Day and Thompson also rank fourth and 11th, respectively, in ERA in the SEC.
The Tigers lead the series against Jacksonville State with an 8-1 record. The Tigers have won the last five straight in the series and are undefeated in three games against the Gamecocks in Auburn.
