The Auburn softball team will host the top-ranked Florida Gators in a double-header at Jane B. Moore Field beginning at 4 p.m. CT Wednesday.
Auburn enters the midweek tilt with a 25-10 overall record and a 5-4 record in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers won two of three games from South Carolina during the weekend.
Florida is 23-2 overall and 13-1 in league play. The Gators suffered their first loss in SEC play on Sunday with a 6-4 loss to Alabama.
"Our team is ready for the challenge of playing the number one team in the nation," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "Florida is a very good team. We are going to have to be at our best and can't give them anything. We have beaten two teams ranked in the top 25 this season and we know we have what it takes to perform at a high level."
Auburn defeated then No. 18 North Carolina 6-5 on Feb. 7 and then No. 11 California 4-1 on Feb. 27, in the only games against ranked teams this season.
Florida leads the overall series against Auburn with an 18-16 edge. The Tigers are 10-6 against Florida in games played in Auburn. The Tigers are 13-4 at Jane B. Moore Field this season, including a 5-1 record in SEC games. Auburn has outscored opponents 84-45 at home.
