The Auburn softball team will square off against Troy Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Jane B. Moore Field with fans receiving a double dip of excitement as the game is designated All Auburn, All Orange and Free Mustache Day.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear Auburn orange clothing in support of the Tigers, with the first 300 fans receiving free souvenir mustaches.
"We are looking forward to a great atmosphere Wednesday night," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "This is our first home game since earlier this month and our team is very excited to be playing in front of our fans. We want everyone to wear their orange. We feed off our fans' energy and it really makes a difference when we see the stands packed."
Auburn enters Wednesday night's game with a 19-12 overall record. The Tigers have won three straight after sweeping a weekend series against South Carolina which moved their Southeastern Conference record to 5-6.
Troy is 19-15 overall this season and is 7-3 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Trojans have been led by Kala Moore who has a team-best .355 batting average and 25 runs scored. Courtney Cherry leads Troy with 22 RBI. Pitcher Ashlyn Williams leads Troy with 257 strikeouts in 169.2 innings of work. Williams is 15-11 on the season and has held opponents to a .188 batting average.
For the Tigers, sophomore Amber Harrison leads the team with a .337 batting average and 24 RBI. Harrison also has a team-high eight doubles and a .408 on-base percentage. Sophomore outfielder Krista Clyde has been on a roll in the last five games, cranking out a .462 batting average with six RBI, two home runs and a .500 on-base percentage.
Auburn is 9-6 all-time against Troy and owns a 4-3 record in games played in Auburn. There have been nine games decided by two runs or less in the series, including six games decided by just one run.
