LEXINGTON, Ky. - A large area of rain has moved into the Lexington, Ky., area this morning and forced the postponement of today's softball game between No. 21 Auburn and No. 10 Kentucky. Both teams will play a double-header on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. CST at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, Ky.
The second game of the series was originally scheduled for a 2 p.m. CST start, but was delayed three hours in hopes of the rain moving out of the state. A double-header will be played on Sunday with approximately 30 minutes in between games.
Auburn (30-5-1, 5-2 SEC) claimed game one of the series last night over No. 10 Kentucky (27-6, 4-3 SEC), by a score of 7-6. The Tigers were down by five runs heading into the fourth inning, but tied it up with five runs in the fourth inning and took the lead in the fifth after a home run by Branndi Melero.
