Auburn Softball to be Featured on SEC-TV
March 29, 2005
AUBURN - The Auburn softball team will be featured Thursday on Fox Sports Net South's SEC-TV at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Lauren Walton, Sara Dean, Ashley Griffin and head coach Tina Deese will discuss the team's ability to dominate the running game this season.
The Tigers have been successful on 56-of-71 stolen base attempts (79 percent) this season, led by Kristina McCain's 14. Walton, Dean and Griffin have combined to go 18-for-23 this season.
Dean, meanwhile, has been stellar behind the plate. The senior from Valencia, Calif., has thrown out 11-of-22 stolen base attempts against her for a 50 percent clip. She also leads the Southeastern Conference with six pickoffs.
The appearance on SEC-TV will come just days before the Tigers (32-9 overall, 8-3 SEC) take on Mississippi State in Starkville. The third game of the series between the Tigers and Bulldogs, coming Sunday, will start at 1 p.m. CT., and be televised live on Fox Sports South. It is one of five SEC games to be aired by Fox Sports South this season, including the conference championship game May 15 in Gainesville, Fla.
Before then, though, the Tigers will play two non-conference games. The first comes Tuesday at Jane B. Moore Field against Georgia State. The game starts at 4 p.m. CT. The second game, Wednesday, will see Auburn travel to Jacksonville State for a solo game that also starts at 4 p.m.
