Dean Named SEC Softball Player of the Week

AUBURN -- Auburn junior Sara Dean has been tabbed Southeastern Conference Softball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Dean, a Valencia, Calif., native, earned the honor for the second time in her career having also won the award on April 1, 2002. She is the 17th player in conference history * the third from Auburn * to take home Player of the Week honors twice in a career.
In three games last week, Dean batted .700 to lead Auburn to a sweep of No. 15 South Carolina. She was 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position. She tied a career high twice on the weekend with a pair of three-hit games.
The wins kept Auburn in first place in the SEC with an 8-1 league record. The Tigers are 26-4 overall.
For the year, Dean is hitting .451 which ranks fourth in the conference. She has four home runs, 10 doubles, 24 RBIs, all of which lead the team. She also has 20 runs scored and seven stolen bases.
Dean and Auburn return to action on Tuesday when they face No. 16 Florida in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. CT.
