Auburn, Ala. -
The No. 21 Auburn softball team will play a midweek game at Troy before returning home to host the Kentucky Wildcats in a three-game series beginning Friday at Jane B. Moore Field.
The Tigers will play at Troy on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Auburn is 23-6 overall this season, including 21-3 against non-conference teams. Troy is 18-7 overall this season.
"This is going to be a tough game against Troy," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "Our games against Troy are always very close and hard-fought. It's always that way when you play teams from this state. We are going to have to do the little things right and not give them anything because they will take advantage of any mistakes we make."
Auburn is 11-6 all-time against Troy and has won three straight in the series. The Tigers are 5-3 against the Trojans in Troy.
The series has been close and low scoring in recent years. Six of the last 10 meetings have been one run games with Auburn holding a 5-1 record in those six games. Neither team has scored more than four runs in the last 12 meetings with the winning team scoring three runs or less eight times in those 12 games.
Auburn will look to snap a two-game losing streak when the Tigers play Troy. Auburn lost the last two games of the Georgia series after winning game one, 2-0, on Friday.
After going 2-3 last week, the Tigers dropped one spot from 20th to 21st in this week's NFCA top 25. Auburn dropped two spots in the ESPN/USA Softball top 25, going from 19th to 21st.
Auburn has been ranked in both polls for five consecutive weeks, reaching a high ranking of 19th in the NFCA and 17th in the ESPN/USA Softball polls the week of Feb. 28.
There will be no radio coverage of the game in Auburn. Live stats can be found at www.auburntigers.com and fans can follow the Tigers on Twitter @AuburntigersSB.
