COLUMBUS, Ga. -
Due to the threat of inclement weather in the Columbus area, the Auburn softball team's play at the NFCA Leadoff Classic has been canceled Sunday.
The Tigers were scheduled to play Florida at 9 a.m. ET. That game was pushed back to 1 p.m. as the team's only contest of the day. However, with just a solo game scheduled and bracket play canceled, Auburn and Florida declined that 1 p.m. contest. The teams will meet April 14-15 for a three-game series in Auburn.
Auburn finished pool play 2-2 in Columbus, defeating North Carolina, 3-0, in eight innings Friday and then Hofstra, 4-2, on Saturday. The Tigers lost to Michigan, 5-1, in eight Friday and 3-2 in nine innings to Southern Illinois Saturday.
The Tigers have a busy week ahead. On Tuesday, the team travels to Jacksonville, Ala., to play Jacksonville State. After that, the team travels to Tampa, Fla., for the USF Louisville Slugger Tournament Friday through Sunday. Check www.auburntigers.com for full information on Auburn softball.
