Auburn Softball Loses To Samford, 1-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Coming off a championship in the Tiger Invitational, Auburn traveled to Birmingham, Ala., to face the Samford Bulldogs and fell, 1-0, on the strength of a solo home run by Samford's Deanna Resmondo in the fifth inning.
Freshman Janet Spivey made her third consecutive start for the Tigers and took a shut out into the bottom of the fifth before giving up the two-out home run to Resmondo. The home run was one of only three hits surrendered by Spivey, who took her first loss of the season and is now 2-1. Samford pitcher Erin Landsburg held the Tigers scoreless on just four hits to earn her first win.
Auburn is now 6-7 this season and will travel to Monroe, La., for the Mardi Gras Tournament from Feb. 14-16
