Auburn softball's 2008 recruiting class has been rated as the 12th-best nationally by studentsportssoftball.com, it was announced Monday.
The Tigers signed six to national letters of intent Nov. 27. They include pitchers Lauren Schmalz (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Angel Bunner (Fairless Hills, Pa.), infielders Megan Mitchell (Huntsville, Ala.), Cassie Trosclair (Harvey, La.) and Kyndall White (Pinson, Ala.) and outfielder Katie Colton (Yucaipa, Calif).
The signees will be eligible to play for the Tigers beginning in the 2008 season when Auburn will lose four seniors to graduation: Holly Currie, Sara Ghezzi, Nicole Russo and Lauren Walton.
The Southeastern Conference and Pacific-10 Conference both placed six teams in the top 25 rankings.
Auburn opens up its 2007 season at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Hawaii Paradise Classic in Honolulu from Feb. 8-11. The Tigers play DePaul and Nebraska Feb. 8, followed by Portland State and Hawaii on Feb. 9.
