Katy Frierson has been named a 2010 ESPN Academic All-American by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America. A native of Homewood, Frierson is the first Auburn soccer player to be named to the First Team in program history.

A junior midfielder that has been a First Team All-District Academic selection following both the 2009 and 2010 seasons, she carries a 3.91 GPA in the classroom where she majors in political science. Her hard work in the classroom also carries over to the playing field where she has been a three-time First Team All-SEC selection. This past season she led Auburn with 28 points, recording eight goals and 12 assists. Of her eight goals, four were game winners and she recorded at least one point in all 11 of Auburn's wins this season.

Auburn has had three players earn four Academic All-America distinctions in the past, though all four were voted to the Second Team in Dawn Dunbar (1997), Erin Hinson (2003) and Jenn Johnson (2007, 2008).
