The Auburn soccer team had a pair of players voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Teams, it was announced on Friday. Senior Katy Frierson was voted First Team and Julie King was voted Second Team in a vote conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Frierson, who earlier this week was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's soccer, carries a 3.94 GPA while majoring in political science. On the field she was named a First Team All-SEC midfielder for the fourth time in her career, becoming just the fifth player in conference history to be voted to the First Team all four years of her playing career. This season she has 24 points on six goals and 12 assists, with her 12 assists leading the SEC and being tied for fourth in the nation.
King, who was named one of three SEC Co-Defensive Players of the Year, owns a 3.41 GPA as an interdisciplinary studies major. An outside back, she has five goals and four assists on 45 shots and has played 1740 out of 1757 minutes this season.
Frierson, who is also a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
