Scouting the Commodores...
Vanderbilt enters the contest with Auburn holding a 5-4-1 record overall and 1-2-0 in SEC play. Last weekend, the Commodores fell to Arkansas at home 0-2, but rebounded to defeat LSU 1-0. Vanderbilt's game with Auburn will be its first SEC test on the road this season. Vanderbilt is led by Laura Hershenow with four goals and an assist while Esther Thompson has spent the majority of time in net with a 3-3-1 record. Thompson has allowed six goals in eight games for a 0.79 goals against average. The Commodores are led by head coach Ronnie Hill, who has compiled a 32-44-6 record in her fifth season at Vanderbilt.
Scouting the Wildcats...
Kentucky is one of three undefeated teams remaining in SEC play with a 3-0-0 record. The Wildcats hold a 5-5-1 record before the weekend with conference wins at Vanderbilt (1-0), and vs. LSU (2-0) and Arkansas (3-2 OT). Elizabeth Ramsey holds a strong lead in points for Kentucky with five goals and six assists on the year. Anne Ogundele and Liz Butler have split time at goalkeeper with Ogundele earning the playing time most recently with a 4-1-1 record and a 1.34 goals against average. Head coach Warren Lipka is in his 12th year with the Wildcats and holds a 138-91-11 record.
Scouting the Tigers...
The Tigers sit at 7-2-2 heading into the weekend coming off a 0-0 double overtime tie at South Carolina and a 0-1 loss in overtime at No. 8 Florida. Auburn is now 0-1-1 in SEC play. The Tigers are 2-5 all time vs. Vanderbilt and 2-6 against Kentucky. Sarah Steinmann remains the team leader in points with seven goals and three assists and goalkeeper Megan Rivera is just one shutout away from tying her school record of nine in one season. Rivera's 22 shutouts is fifth all time in the SEC. The junior is just eight shutouts away from breaking the conference record. Head coach Karen Hoppa is in her fifth season with the Tigers and holds a 52-35-5 record. Auburn's match with Kentucky on Sunday will be shown live on FOX Sports South on SEC-TV at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
Auburn will hit the road for conference games at Mississippi State Oct. 17 and Ole Miss Oct. 19. Gametimes are set for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively. Auburn holds a slight 4-3-1 advantage over MSU and leads the all-time series with Ole Miss at 6-3-0.
