Le Beau Tabbed SEC Defensive Player of the Week
Oct. 3, 2016

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Le Beau was named the SEC Defensive Player of the week, the league office announced on Monday.

Le Beau kept Missouri off the scoresheet to guide Auburn to a 1-0 conference victory on Friday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex. In the match, the netminder made four saves, including two at point-blank range to lead the Tigers to their fifth shutout of the season.

The Crystal Lake, Ill. native held the potent Missouri offense scoreless for just the third time this season. Leading up to the match, Missouri had tallied 25 goals and had one of the top scoring duos in the conference up front.

Le Beau also came off her line to keep five corners from causing damage during the 90-minute affair.

In her young career, the sophomore has racked up 12 shutouts and is in sole possession of fifth on the program’s all-time leaderboard.

Le Beau’s recognition as the conference’s top weekly defensive player is the 11th time a goalkeeper as won the award for Auburn. She received the same honor last year after back-to-back road shutouts at UC Irvine and Long Beach State to open the season.

Le Beau and her teammates return to the field on Thursday night as they travel to Lexington, Ky. for a conference clash with Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
