Soccer Plays Host To Mississippi State And No. 25 Tennessee This Weekend
Oct. 3, 2012
The Auburn soccer team will play host to Mississippi State and No. 25 Tennessee this weekend as the second half of the SEC season gets underway. Kickoff for Friday's match against Mississippi State is scheduled for 7:30pm while the match against Tennessee will begin at 1pm and air live on CSS. Auburn (7-6-0, 3-3-0 SEC) is coming off of a six-point weekend in which it moved from 11th-place in the SEC all the way up to sixth and second in the SEC West. Auburn's wins were over South Carolina (4-2) and Ole Miss (1-0) with sophomore forward Tatiana Coleman claiming SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors following her two-goal, one assist weekend.
Friday night's match will be the annual `Power In Pink Night' with a limited number of mini pink soccer balls being given away at the promotions tent. There will also be a silent auction during the game for five autographed, game-used soccer balls. All money raised at the match will benefit the EAMC Foundation Breast Cancer Fund. Auburn trails in the all-time series with Tennessee (8-3-2, 3-2-1), 6-10-0, and is in search of its first ever back-to-back wins in the series after claiming a 2-0 upset victory in the semifinals of the 2011 SEC Tournament. Auburn's last home win against Tennessee, where it is 4-2-0 against the Volunteers, was in 2008 in a double-overtime thriller. The first 500 fans into Sunday's match will receive Auburn soccer magnets. For Auburn soccer updates, follow on twitter @AU_Soccer.
