Tatiana Coleman Named SEC Player Of The Week
Oct. 1, 2012
Tatiana Coleman was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week following her two-goal, one assist weekend against South Carolina and Ole Miss. With the two wins Auburn moved into second place in the SEC West. Coleman, a sophomore forward, began her weekend with the second assist on Natalie Donaldson's game-tying goal in the 59th minute of the 4-2 win over South Carolina. Trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes, Auburn rallied to score four unanswered goals, with Coleman capping the scoring in the 76th minute with her third goal of the season. Her assist made it three consecutive matches in which she played in which she collected an assist as she now has a team-high six, which is tied for the SEC lead. The Boca Raton, Fla., native returned on Sunday and scored the lone goal in Auburn's 1-0 win over Ole Miss. Her goal again came in the 76th minute as Auburn held the SEC's top-scoring team off the board. It was her second game-winning goal of the season and of the last three matches as she also scored the game-winner against LSU a week ago. In Coleman's short career, which spans 32 matches, she has now scored 11 goals, six of which are game-winners, and has 14 assists for 36 total points, giving her a 1.13 point-per-game average. Coleman took home the conference honor for the second time in her career, also being named the SEC Player of the Week on Aug. 29, 2011. On the same day that the league office recognized Coleman's work, College Sports Madness (CollegeSportsMadness.com) also named her the SEC Player of the Week. Auburn remains at home for its next two matches, playing host to Mississippi State on Friday, Oct. 5, and Tennessee on Sunday, Oct. 7. Friday's match kicks off at 7:30pm while Sunday's starts at 1pm and will air live on CSS.
