The Auburn soccer team hits the road for its first two away Southeastern Conference matches of the season as it travels to Arkansas and LSU this weekend. Auburn (7-3-0, 1-1-0 SEC) and Arkansas (3-5-2, 0-1-1 SEC) will meet at 7pm on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark., before Auburn hits Baton Rouge, La., for a 1pm match on Sunday.
"I think this Arkansas team is better than what we have seen in the past despite the fact that their record isn't quite at .500 yet. They have been on the road for seven matches already and they just had a big tie at Georgia," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "LSU has become a really big SEC West rival for us. They have quite a few talented players in Carlie Banks, who was really dangerous against us last year, and Addie Eggleston, a freshman who is leading them in points."
Auburn enters the weekend leading the league in points (68) as it has a league-leading 28 assists on the year to go along with its 20 goals, which is fourth in the conference. Junior midfielder Katy Frierson and sophomore forward Mary Coffed hold the league lead in assists with seven each, which is tied for 10th nationally, while Frierson also leads the league with 17 points.
Auburn, which dropped out of the national rankings this week, is currently in second place in the SEC West, three points behind rival Alabama (7-2-0, 2-0-0 SEC).
Sunday's match at LSU will air live in the Baton Rouge area on COX television. Both games will be broadcast on WEGL 91.1 FM in the Auburn/Opelika area as well as online at www.auburntigers.com.
