AUBURN, Ala. - Freshman Ashley Marks has been named the Southeastern Conference's Soccer Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The award comes after Marks scored three goals, including both game-winners, as Auburn went 2-0-0 over the weekend.
Marks, from Atlanta, Ga. (Blessed Trinity Catholic HS), made her first collegiate goal a memorable one as she connected on the game-winner in the 77th minute of Auburn's 1-0 win over Troy on Friday night, Sept. 7. The reserve forward then entered Sunday's game and did herself one better, scoring the first goal of the game in the 25th minute, which was just six minutes after she entered the game. She finished off her weekend by scoring in the 56th minute of Sunday's 3-0 win over Pittsburgh.
With her dominating weekend behind her, the freshman now leads the Tigers in goals (three) and points (six) while registering just five shots.
Auburn returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Florida State. Kickoff is set for 7pm ET at the Seminoles Soccer Complex. The game can be heard live on WZMG 910 AM in the Auburn-Opelika area as well as on the internet at www.auburntigers.com.
