With just a three-day turnaround from when its flight landed in Atlanta on Wednesday morning until its next game, the Auburn soccer team will be back on the field on Friday night at 7pm CT when it plays host to Troy at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Auburn went 0-1-1 in Hawai'I with Becca Howell and Caitlin King providing both of Auburn's goals on the weekend. Now Auburn turns its attention to another pair of schools that it hasn't seen in a long time, having last faced Troy in 1997 and Pittsburgh, Auburn's Sunday opponent (1pm CT), in 2001.
"It is the home-opener this weekend, so the team should be pretty motivated to get back on the field after the long trip," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "The girls take a lot of pride in how we play at home, so that will also serve as a good motivator for us."
Troy comes into Friday night's game 2-1-0 after defeating Shelton State CC, 4-0, on Wednesday night. Pittsburgh is 2-0-0 and will play Georgia State on Friday night.
The first 250 fans into Friday's game will receive a free Auburn stadium seat cushion. Friday is Tigers Unlimited Night, Alumni Night and the start of Parents Weekend. Admission to both games is free.
