The #10 Auburn soccer team will put its four-game winning streak to the test this weekend as the Tigers hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Champaign, Ill., for games against Portland State on Friday and host Illinois on Sunday.
The latest Soccer America poll has the Tigers ranked 10th in the nation, the highest ranking ever bestowed upon Auburn by Soccer America. AU is also ranked in the coaches poll (13th), the SoccerBuzz poll (21st) and Soccer Times (22nd), marking the first time since Nov. 9, 2004, that the Tigers were ranked in all four polls. It is also just the fifth time in school history that AU is listed as a top-25 squad in all four polls in the same week.
AU is 4-0 on the season, having posted three shutouts and two over-time victories. Freshmen Caitlin King and Kasey Warren currently pace the Tigers offensively with a goal and an assist each while sophomore Allison Whitworth has been nearly flawless in net for the Tigers, owning a 0.27 goals against average in 329 minutes of play.
The Tigers and Vikings will kick off at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday from the Illinois Soccer Stadium while AU and the host Illini are set to battle at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday.
