AUBURN, Ala. -
The Auburn soccer team will attempt to run its unbeaten streak to four on Friday night when it plays host to Kennesaw State at 7pm at the Auburn Soccer Complex. Auburn is 1-0-2 and is coming off of its first win of the season, a 3-0 win over South Alabama.
Freshman Amy Howard has been the anchor to Auburn's defense while 2008 SEC Freshman of the Year Katy Frierson has been the offensive catalyst with a team-best four points on the season. Howard sports a 0.32 goals against average, second-best in the SEC, while Frierson's four points are tied for eighth two weeks into the season.
Kennesaw State is 1-2-0 with losses to Georgia (6-0) and Minnesota (1-0) sandwiching a 2-1 win over Francis Marion. KSU was picked to win the Atlantic Sun and Maylee Attin-Johnson has been named the A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year.
Friday's meeting will be the first between the two programs in the regular season. Auburn previously traveled to Kennesaw for an exhibition match prior to the 2006 season, a 4-2 Auburn win.
Friday is U.S. Youth Soccer Night and youth wearing their team jersey will receive t-shirts and hand fans from US Soccer while supplies last. It is also Auburn/Opelika Parks and Recreation Night and admission is free.
