The Auburn soccer team will open up the home portion of its 2009 schedule on Friday at 7pm when it plays host to Dayton at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Both teams come into the match regionally ranked by the NSCAA as Auburn is ranked seventh in the South Regional and Dayton is first in the Mid-Atlantic Regional, though it is Auburn that has a national ranking of No. 25 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll while Dayton is two spots behind it at No. 27.
Auburn enters the match 0-0-1 after opening the season at Samford and playing to a scoreless tie. Auburn will be shorthanded on Friday as sophomore defender Julie King will sit out the contest after receiving a red card during the match at Samford.
Auburn's Amy Howard was named the SEC Freshman of the Week following her standout play at Samford in which she faced five shots, making a pair of saves, while playing without a full compliment of players in front of her for the final 65:54 following King's red card.
Dayton is 1-0-0 after defeating Loyola of Chicago, 1-0, last week.
Following Friday's match, Auburn will play host to South Alabama at 2pm on Sunday. Both matches will be played at the Auburn Soccer Complex and admission is free.
