Five Selected on SEC Preseason Watch List
Aug. 17, 2016

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference unveiled its soccer coaches’ preseason list on Wednesday with five Auburn players selected as players to watch for the upcoming season.

Kiana Clarke, Kristen Dodson, Sarah Le Beau, Brooke Ramsier and Casie Ramsier made their way onto the list. The Tigers tied with South Carolina and Texas A&M for the most honorees, who each had five.

Clarke, a senior, has been a key component on defense the past three years. Clarke has seen action in 65 matches and started 35, including all 23 last season. In 2015, the Davie, Fla. native led the team with 2,136 minutes on the pitch and was the only player not to be subbed out at any point during the season. Clarke and the back line posted nine shutouts a season ago, including the opening six matches of 2015.

Dodson capped last season with 13 points, good for third on the team. The junior found the back of the net five times, including twice for game-winners. Dodson has started 36 of 42 career matches played and has logged back-to-back seasons of at least 1,300 minutes on the field. The Aurora, Ill. native was chosen to the SEC preseason list last season, as well.

Serving as the team’s primary protector between the posts, Le Beau recorded seven shutouts in her debut season in the blue and orange. The product of Crystal Lake, Ill. made 81 saves and boasted a 0.99 goals against average, ranking fifth all-time in single-season program history. Le Beau opened the year with six-straight shutouts en route to Auburn’s best start to a season (6-0-0) all-time.

B. Ramsier guided the Tigers last year with 11 assists – the sixth-highest total in one season in program history. With a majority of her time spent in the holding midfield role, the Dallas, Texas native logged three goals, including game-winners at Long Beach State (Aug. 23) and versus UAB (Aug. 28). In her career, B. Ramsier has competed in 67 matches, starting 56 of them.

Entering her final season, C. Ramsier has 63 points to her name, ranking ninth in program history. Her 25 career goals are currently tied for fifth on the Auburn charts, with seven coming as game-winners. Last season, the Dallas, Texas native netted 12 goals, which tied for the second-highest in a season in program history and the most since 2003. C. Ramsier was named the SEC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was an NSCAA All-American a season ago.

The Tigers open the season on Friday when they play host to Clemson. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
