AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn soccer redshirt freshman Alyse Scotthelped lead the NASA `12 Elite II club team to the 2013 U.S. Youth Soccer National championship for the Under-19 Girls division over the weekend.
"Winning nationals in our last year is an accumulation of all the hard work we have done in the 10-plus years my club team has been together," Scott said.
A goalkeeper, Scott's team posted a 2-1 record to advance out of the prelim's and into the championship match. NASA `12 Elite II defeated So Cal Blues 2-1 in overtime to win the national championship.
In four matches, Scott posted two shutouts, totaled 20 saves and allowed just three goals. Scott also scored one goal. For her effort at nationals, Scott earned the Golden Glove award and was named "Best Eleven."
It was the third trip to the national championships in the last four years for NASA '12 Elite. In regionals, NASA '12 Elite posted a 3-0-1 record, defeating TBU Premier in penalty kicks to advance to the national championships. Scott made three diving saves in penalty kicks to help NASA '12 Elite advance.
