AUBURN, Ala. - With all but one of the Auburn summer soccer camps completed for the year, the Auburn soccer coaching staff is its down time to work with the Olympic Development Program, a program which Auburn is heavily involved with and one that helps foster better soccer players across the country.

Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa is in her first season as the head coach of ODP Region III. An ODP veteran, she was the assistant head coach in Region III from September 2008 until her appointment to the head coaching job in February. In August 2007 she took seven Alabama ODP players to play in the Dana Cup in Hjorring, Denmark, with the Fortuna Club. She had previously spent time coaching the Alabama ODP team for the 1990 birth year and had four players selected to the Regional Pool and two to the National Pool. She has also been the head goalkeeping coach and regional staff coach for Region II from 1990-2001.

"Keidane (McAlpine), Amy (Berbary) and I are really enjoying spending some of our summer working with the Olympic Development Program," Hoppa said. "ODP provides us a great opportunity to work with quality young players and help them improve their game."

An assistant coach at Auburn, McAlpine is the head age group coach for the U-13 group that head camp June 28-July 1 in Montevallo and he will also be on the Region III staff for the U-14 age group from July 12-16.

Also an assistant at Auburn, Berbary is on the Region III staff with the U-13 age group in Montevallo and the Region II staff for the U-14 age group that completed its training together in DeKalb, Ill., on Friday, July 9.
