AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn soccer signee Katy Frierson was named the seventh-overall recruit in the 2008 Top 25 U.S. High School Recruits by Soccer Buzz. Frierson, from Homewood, Ala., is the only recruit in the list to have signed with a Southeastern Conference program.

A midfielder for B-USA Angels, Frierson was invited to the U-23 National Team Camp and was the only high school player to have been invited to the camp, which was held April 17-24 in Portland, Ore. She is also a member of the USA's U-20 WNT Player pool and has played extensively for the U16 and U17 National Teams, which included a trip to Argentina last year, starting as the center-mid in two victories over the host country. Having been a member of BUSA since 1999, she has helped the club team to nine state championships, two regional quarterfinal appearances and two Region 3 League Championships, captaining the team since 2004. A two-time NSCAA All-American, she has also played on the Alabama ODP Team from 2001-07, making the Dana Cup trip to Holland in 2007.

The Auburn soccer team, which had its entire recruiting class ranked 10th in the southeast region and 44th nationally by Soccer Buzz, is coming off of its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2001 season. Along with Frierson, other players coming into the program for 2008 are Erin Gaby (forward/midfielder - Marietta, Ga.), Aimee Golightly (goalkeeper - Northport, N.Y), Julie King (midfielder - St. Louis, Mo.) and Mary Nicholson (defender - Birmingham).
