    Frierson Joins United States Women's National U-23 Team for Trio of Matches

    AUBURN- Rising junior Katy Frierson of the Auburn soccer team has been selected as one of 17 players chosen to travel to Germany with the under-23 United States Women's National team. She joins the team after training with the under-20 squad in mid-March.

    The squad, led by head coach Bill Irwin, will play three matches, beginning with a match against TSG Wieseck on Monday. Following Monday's match, the squad will square off against the German U-23 National Team on Wednesday in Glessen. The trip will conclude with a match against the South Korean U-20 National Team on Saturday in Marsburg.

    Frierson, from Birmingham, is one of six midfielders making the trip with the team. In 2009, she was named the Auburn Offensive MVP for the second straight season. She led the team in assists (10) and points (20) while chipping in five goals, three of which were game-winners. A First Team All-SEC selection for the second straight season, she was also recognized for being on the SEC All-Tournament Team, a NSCAA All-South Region First Team choice, a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team selection, an Auburn Top Tiger and on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
