AUBURN, Ala. -
Former Auburn standout goalkeeper Allison Whitworth will make her first career start for the FC Gold Pride of the WPS on Sunday night, May 24, in a game televised live nationally on the Fox Soccer Channel. The match between the Pride and the Los Angeles Sol will begin at 6pm CT from Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Whitworth has been a backup to Nicole Barnhart for the first seven games of the season and will be seeing her first game action of the year as Barnhart is with the U.S. National Team.
"I feel like I've been ready for a few weeks now so this is my chance to get to play and do what I can to help us win another game," Whitworth said in an interview posted on the FC Gold Pride's website (www.fcgoldpride.com).
FC Gold Pride is 3-3-1 (10 pts), four points behind the first-place Sol (7-1-2, 14 pts).
The match will re-air on Tuesday, May 26 at noon CT and again on Thursday, May 28 at 2am CT.
