Auburn Falls In First Exhibition Match Of The Spring, 7-3, At Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Auburn soccer team opened up its spring exhibition season with a 7-3 loss at Florida State on Sunday afternoon. Auburn scored goals in the first two 30 minute periods while Florida State scored goals in all three periods. Caitlin King, Lizzie Hamersly and Rebecca Howell all scored for Auburn, which will play a total of six exhibition matches this spring. King and Hamersly each scored in the first 30 minute period while Howell recorded her goal in the second period. Florida State outscored Auburn, 3-2, in the first 30 minutes but both teams could only score one goal in the middle 30. Florida State wrapped up the scoring with three third-period goals. Skylar Brinegar made eight saves, playing all 90 minutes in net for Auburn. Tiffany McCarty took seven shots for Florida State and scored three times while Amanda DaCosta had two assists for Florida State. Auburn will play a home exhibition on Friday night at 7pm at the Auburn Soccer Complex when it plays host to Mercer.
