March 18, 2003
BIRMINGHAM – Auburn soccer player Sara Power has been named to the All-SEC Honorable Mention team as announced by the SEC office.
Power was second on the SEC title-holding Auburn team in points with 20 in the 2002 season including eight goals and four assists. The sophomore from Annandale, Va. was honored during the season as well for her play as she was named the SEC Player of the Week on Oct. 14, 2002.
“We are really pleased that the SEC chose to recognize Sara due to the significant impact she played in our championship run,” head coach Karen Hoppa said. “She had a huge part in each and every game and is very deserving of this honor.”
The SEC recently honored a proposal of SEC member athletic directors to honor those athletes who received at least one vote for first team All-SEC, but was not named to the first or second All-SEC teams to be named as Honorable Mention All-SEC.
