Feb. 28, 2014

AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn soccer team returns to action on Saturday as they host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at 1 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

The Tigers head into its second spring game after winning its first match 3-0 over Jacksonville State on Feb. 15.

Tennessee Tech finished the 2013 season with a 3-15-1 record. Returning for Tennessee Tech is freshman forward Abi Gearing, who posted two goals, two assists and 21 shots.

Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa was proud of her team's performance in its first match and hopes to continue the momentum as they head into this weekend's contest.

"We felt we got better as the game went on against Jacksonville State, and are looking to carry that momentum forward into this weekend's game," coach Hoppa said. "The last two weeks of training have seen the players work very hard and they are looking forward to playing a quality opponent in Tennessee Tech."

Freshman Brooke Ramsier leads the Tigers in goals for the spring, recording two of Auburn's three scores in its opening match. Her sister, Casie Ramsier, scored the Tigers other goal against the Gamecocks and led the team in 2013 with nine goals.
