AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn soccer team hosts the Jacksonville State Gamecocks tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex in its spring opener.
The Tigers ended their fall season in impressive fashion, going undefeated in its last six regular season games and advancing to the SEC tournament for the 18th time in program history.
Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa looks to continue the momentum into the program’s first spring game.
“We are excited to kick off 2014 tomorrow,” Hoppa said. “The girls have been working extremely hard and are ready to compete against and outside opponent.”
The Tigers have not faced the Gamecocks since 2006, a match which the Tigers won 4-0.
Returning for Auburn is Casie Ramsier, who was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2013, and Kala Faulkner, who was named to the SEC First-Team and invited to the U.S. National Team U-20 Training Camp. Ramsier led the Tigers in goals (9), shots (55) and points (22), while Faulkner played a pivotal role on the back line, as well as tallying one goal and four assists.
The Tigers will also add nine players for the start of the 2014 fall season. According to Top Drawer Soccer, Auburn posted the No. 13 signing class in the country.
