Auburn Soccer Signs Nine
Feb. 1, 2012
The Auburn soccer program received nine signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday on the first day of the signing period. Auburn's incoming class includes three signees from the state of Alabama, three from Georgia, two from Texas and one from California.
"We have waited for this day for a long time," Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator Amy Berbary said. "Our staff has watched this class mature athletically throughout the recruiting process and we are extremely pleased with the outcome."
Signing with Auburn from within the state is Haley Gerken (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain), Alicia Hereford (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville) and Sophie Simantel (Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores). The three signees from Georgia are Alexa Allen (Buford, Ga./Hebron Christian), Kala Faulkner (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) and Alyse Scott (Marietta, Ga./The Walker School).
The two signees from Texas are Logan Beal (Plano, Texas/Plano West) and Antoinette Bennett (Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Summit) while Natalie Donaldson's (Westminster, Calif./Los Alamitos)signing makes it two straight years Auburn has plucked a product out of California.
"This class has instant impact potential and gives us a large amount of depth after losing four seniors that contributed significant minutes to our NCAA Tournament team last year," Berbary said. "These nine signees represent another great example of our efforts to continually recruit at a national level as well as sign the top kids in the southeast, which will help us maintain the tradition of being an elite team in the SEC."
